2 What is a possessive adjective? When you want to show possession over something, you need to replace your article with a possessive adjective. –Examples: My family Your brother His mom Our dad Their grandparents

3 Los adjectivos posesivos The possessive adjectives in Spanish are: Mi=My Tu=Your Su=His/Her Nuestro/Nuestra=Our Su=Their, Yours (pl.) ¡OJO! Take note of the spelling difference between the subject pronoun “You” and the possessive adjective “Your”: TúTu

4 How do we use possessive adjectives in Spanish? When speaking or writing in Spanish and you want to show possession over something, replace your article (either él/la or un/una) with the appropriate possessive adjective. –Por ejemplo: My mom=Mi madre Your brother=Tu hermano Our family=Nuestra familia

6 Los cumpleaños When stating someone else’s birthday, we use the preposition “de” to show the possession. Ejemplo: My brother’s birthday… = El cumpleaños de mi hermano…

7 (Los cumpleaños) We can also use the possessive adjective to state someone else’s birthday –Ejemplos: His/Her birthday=Su cumpleaños Your birthday=Tu cumpleaños
