2 School Health/Safe & Drug-Free Schools and Counseling Support The mission of the School Health, Safe & Drug-Free Schools & Counseling Support program is to promote a framework for supportive and protective school environments that coordinate and collaborate to assure School Connectedness & Academic Success!

3 The School Health program provides training & technical assistance to School Health Advisory Councils & Coordinated School Health Programs to impact School Health Policies & Practices. School Health/Safe & Drug-Free Schools and Counseling Support

4 A Coordinated School Health approach involves coordinating and collaborating with representatives from the eight components of CSH Model from CDC which include…to Improve Children’s Health & Remove Barriers to Learning. School Health/Safe & Drug-Free Schools and Counseling Support

5 The primary role of schools is to educate our youth. However, students cannot learn at an optimal level, if they come to school tired, hungry, sick and impaired with drugs, fearful of violence or with emotional distress. School Health/Safe & Drug-Free Schools and Counseling Support

6 A Coordinated School Health Program addresses health concerns in a coordinated fashion so that the barriers to learning are minimized. School Health/Safe & Drug-Free Schools and Counseling Support

7 If children feel Healthy, Safe, & Connected to school they are more likely to be Engaged & Challenged! School Health/Safe & Drug-Free Schools and Counseling Support
