2 SUMMARY PROJECT OUTLINE PROJECT TITLE Training of Trainers on OSHE Management and Education Programmes to other trade unionists

3 Duration: 6 MONTHS (Sept 2006 – March 2007) Project Language: Sinhala ASELA JAYASUNDARA GNOA, SRI LANKA 20th July, 2006

4 Background: Government Nursing Officers Association is facing challenges on increasing occupational accidents in hospitals. Our membership always facing lot of accidents while on duty like needle prick injuries, cut injuries with using blades and other sharp instruments, Also our membership always exposed to secondary infections when handling, the infectious patient. (e.g. Hepatitis B, Typhoid). The Ministry of Health and Ministry of Labour have been alert to these problems and have taken several meaningful measures during the last few years. But introductory and training courses about OSHE for Nursing Officers in Sri Lanka was very rare. My main aim is to train 10 Nursing officers in each province of Sri Lanka. Thereafter I like to introduce OSHE to others workers. As well as I hope to conduct few programmes to other trade unions too.
