2 CEOS/WGISS 2003 in Chang-Mai1 NASA-NASDA catalog interoperability  NASA-NASDA Letter of Agreement of information system interoperability since 1994  Target data for interoperability –NASA: Terra/MODIS, Aqua/MODIS, Aqua/AMSR-E, QuikSCAT/SeaWinds –NASDA: ADEOS-II/AMSR, ADEOS-II/SeaWinds, AMSR-E(Aqua)  Target system for interoperability –NASA: EDG (client), DAAC/IMS (server: NSIDC, LP/DAAC, PO/DAAC, GES/DAAC) –NASDA: EUS (client), NASDA/IMS (server: NASDA/HEOC)  Target functions for interoperability –Valid exchange –Guide search –Inventory search –Browse search –Product order (need to consider data policy)  Target interoperability protocol –NASA EOS Data GW V0 ODL  Current status –Still some issues (mainly data policy for product order) are remaining. –Big challenge for real operation to supporting Japan and US PI and Scientists.

14 CEOS/WGISS 2003 in Chang-Mai13 NASDA ALOS Information System  Separated system from original NASDA existing satellite information system (EOIS: Earth Observation Information System) due to huge data volume (1.2TB/day)  Need to develop another DB resources for good performance  User Interface is also specified to ALOS only as ALOS User Interface Gateway (AUIG).  XML/SOAP client-server interface for search and order services. –More XML tags, lower performance?  Centralizing catalog DB strategy for much operational use (NASDA will gather all ALOS catalog from other data centers such as data node)

15 CEOS/WGISS 2003 in Chang-Mai14 CIP status  NASDA CIP ODBC is now stopping  We need to evaluate for future implementation

16 CEOS/WGISS 2003 in Chang-Mai15 OGC related activities at NASDA  OGC Applications – develop systems for practical satellite data use  More user driven (collaborate with MAFFIN, Chiba Univ., Keio Univ.) Forest Fire Monitoring Prototype System (Developed to be used by forest fire monitoring operators in Thailand) Forest Fire Monitoring Prototype System II (in planning stages) (Provide near real-time hotspot product using GLI & MODIS data) Agricultural Monitoring Prototype System (in planning stages) (Inundation monitoring / Drought monitoring)  Supporting Grass-Roots Activities to Develop OGC Based Systems for the Digital Asia Network (DAN)
