2 Why learn about flamingoes? Flamingoes are an excellent example of animals which are perfectly adapted to their habitat.

3 Flamingoes Shelter Flamingoes home is the swamp. They find shelter in the large numbers that live together.

4 Flamingoes Water Flamingoes have plenty of water from the swamps they live in.

5 Flamingoes Food Flamingoes are not born pink. They turn pink from the foods that they eat in their habitat. The foods are high in caratenoid (kuh-RAT-n-oid). This is the same thing found in carrots. These foods include: Worms, insects, small shellfish, shrimp, small fish, water plants, and plankton.
