Why learn about flamingoes? Flamingoes are an excellent example of animals which are perfectly adapted to their habitat.

Flamingoes Shelter Flamingoes home is the swamp. They find shelter in the large numbers that live together.

Flamingoes Water Flamingoes have plenty of water from the swamps they live in.

Flamingoes Food Flamingoes are not born pink. They turn pink from the foods that they eat in their habitat. The foods are high in caratenoid (kuh-RAT-n-oid). This is the same thing found in carrots. These foods include: Worms, insects, small shellfish, shrimp, small fish, water plants, and plankton.
