5 Congressional Visits Day Every year, AIAA members – engineers, scientists, researchers, students, educators, and technology executives – come to Washington, D.C., to take part in AIAA’s Congressional Visits Day program (CVD). They meet with national decision makers to discus critical industry issues in civil aeronautics, civil astronautics and defense. What’s the goal? Through face-to-face meetings with Members of Congress, congressional staff, key administration officials, and other decision makers, Congressional Visits Day raises awareness of the long-term value that science, engineering and technology bring to America. This year’s Congressional Visits Day is scheduled for March 15-16 th. If you’re interested in participating as part of the Delaware Section team for CVD, please contact DE Section Chair Tim Dominick (410- 392-1069 or timothy.dominick@atk.com).timothy.dominick@atk.com Looking for 2-3 additional members to round out our team for this year

6 Battle of the Rockets! Rocket design competition for Young Professionals (YP) Kickoff meeting on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 from noon – 1 PM –Location at ATK Elkton, room TBD. About the competition –Location: Culpeper, Virginia –Date: April 2, 2010 –Mission: Design a rocket system to safely fly a large raw hen's egg and an electronic altimeter to an altitude of 2000 ft and return it all without damage; the team closest to the altitude wins Contact Young Professional (YP) Chair –Connor O’Malley (Connor.OMalley@atk.com)

13 Dave McGrath Named AIAA Fellow Longtime Delaware section member and former section chair and council member Dave McGrath was recognized by AIAA as a Fellow on December 27, 2010 The distinction of Fellow is conferred by AIAA upon outstanding members of the Institute who have made notable and valuable contributions to the arts, sciences, or technology of aeronautics or astronautics. AIAA President Mark Lewis stated: “Being named a Fellow of AIAA is among the highest honors that can be bestowed upon an aerospace professional, and represents recognition from colleagues and peers for great contributions to our field and technical community. I congratulate each member of this year’s class of Fellows and Honorary Fellows.”
