2 Mission purpose....(obvious);)  The mission plan of Apollo 11 was to land two men on the lunar surface and return them safely to Earth!.... Earth from Moon!!!

3 Launch :D! At 9:32 a.m., the engines fire and Apollo 11 clears the tower. About 12 minutes later, the crew is in Earth orbit. The launch took place at Kennedy Space Center Launch Complex 39A on July 16, 1969, at 08:32 a.m. EST.. It was the United States first lunar landing mission. After launch, the spacecraft was inserted into lunar orbit about 76 hours into the mission.

4 Crew Members….  Neil Armstrong- (commander)  was born in Wapakoneta, Ohio, on August 5, 1930. He received a B.S. in aeronautical engineering from Purdue University in 1955, and an M.S. in aerospace engineering from the University of Southern California in 1970. He was selected with the second group of astronauts in September 1962.  Buzz Aldrin- (lunar module pilot)  was born in Montclair, New Jersey, on January 20, 1930. He received a B.S. from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York, in 1951, and a Doctor of Science degree in Astronautics from MIT in 1963. He was one of the third group of astronauts named in October 1963  Michael Collins- (command module pilot)  was born in Rome, Italy, on October 31, 1930. He received a B.S. from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York, in 1952 and was one of the third group of astronauts named in October 1963

5 1 st man on moon!  Neil Armstrong was the first man to step foot on the moon!  At 10:56 p.m. Armstrong is ready to plant the 1 st human foot on another world!

6 Back to earth! Our Home.  After landing, the crew put on (biological isolation) suits. They were retrieved by helicopter and taken to the recovery ship, USS Hornet. The crew and lunar samples were placed in the Mobile Quarantine Facility for transport to the Lunar Receiving Laboratory in Houston. The command module was taken aboard the Hornet about 3 hours after landing.  With the success of Apollo 11, the national objective to land men on the Moon and return them safely to Earth had been accomplished! !
