Did You Know? AR 600-20, ARMY COMMAND POLICY, CHAPTER 8, DATED 7 JUNE 2006. THE DEPARTMENT OF ARMY IS OBSERVING NATIONAL SEXUAL ASSAULT AWARENESS MONTH (SAAM) IN APRIL, WITH THE DOD THEME STAND UP AGAINST SEXUAL ASSAULT... MAKE A DIFFERENCE. SEXUAL ASSAULT IS A CRIME, IS CONTRARY TO ARMY VALUES, DEGRADES MISSION READINESS, AND HAS NO PLACE IN THE ARMY. ONE SEXUAL ASSAULT IS TOO MANY. LEADERS AT ALL LEVELS ARE ENCOURAGED TO USE NATIONAL SEXUAL ASSAULT AWARENESS MONTH AS AN OPPORTUNITY TO TALK OPENLY TO THEIR SOLDIERS ABOUT THIS ISSUE. THE ARMY S SEXUAL ASSAULT PREVENTION AND RESPONSE PROGRAM WEB SITE, HTTP://WWW.SEXUALASSAULT.ARMY.MIL, IS A VALUABLE RESOURCE. IN ADDITION TO SEXUAL ASSAULT AWARENESS MONTH MATERIALS AND INFORMATION, IT CONTAINS A VARIETY OF EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS, POLICY DOCUMENTS, LESSON PLANS, AND LINKS TO OTHER RESOURCES FOR USE BY LEADERS AND SOLDIERS.HTTP://WWW.SEXUALASSAULT.ARMY.MIL THE ARMY CONTINUES TO BE A VALUES BASED ORGANIZATION WHERE SOLDIERS MUST TREAT EACH OTHER WITH DIGNITY AND RESPECT. ELIMINATING SEXUAL ASSAULT IS ESSENTIAL TO KEEP SOLDIERS SAFE AND MAINTAIN A HIGH LEVEL OF UNIT READINESS. ACTIVE LEADERSHIP INVOLVEMENT IN OBSERVING NATIONAL SEXUAL ASSAULT AWARENESS MONTH CAN HELP THE ARMY MOVE EVEN CLOSER TO ELIMINATING SEXUAL ASSAULT IN OUR RANKS.
