 The job of a police officer is to work in a community to ensure the safety of the community and to maintain law and order. I am interested in this career because I have always loved helping people out and this is just one way that I could do that almost every day. Also, being able to make a community feel safe and comfortable would be quite rewarding as well.

 The values of this job are safety and justice. I value those things because everyone deserves to feel safe and secure and justice is important to ensure that people feel safe by maintaining the law and order.  The tasks and responsibilities of a police officer are -Patrolling the community and making presence known to deter crime. -Become familiar with the community and the people within it. -Interviewing suspects, victims and witnesses. -Responding to calls and requests of people in need. -dealing with lost, stolen or damaged property. -Conducting arrests when needed. -Conducting traffic stops when a violation has occurred.

 Police officers work with people, data and things. They have to arrest people, work with them during investigations, talk to the community and make their presence known among people. They work with data of how many people may match a description of a suspect or, when pulling someone over, they look up their license and see their driving record and it may determine if they get a ticket or not. They have to use things such as cars, guns, computers, pepper spray, handcuffs, tasers, etc.  The work environment of a police officer is, most of the time, outside. The whole community is their work environment.  The working hours of a police officer can vary greatly. I could be working anywhere from 3 days a week, 12 hours at a time to 5-6 days a week at 8 hours a day. I could also work at any time during the day or night.

I could be working anywhere from 3 days a week, 12 hours at a time to 5-6 days a week at 8 hours a day. I could also work at any time during the day or night.

 To be a police officer, you have to be physically fit and mentally fit. You have to be strong willed because there will probably be times that you will see things that you really do not want to see. Also, there will be times that people get on your nerves but you will not be able to do anything. Also, I’d imagine you’d need to be a good driver and be able to focus on many things at once. You will also need to learn how to shoot a gun and a taser and how to properly go about handling all of the different things that officers do.  Most police departments require applying officers to have at least a two-year associate’s degree. You will also need to go through a police academy and get all of the training for the job like how to use pepper spray and handcuffs how to shoot a gun and a taser.

 The average salary for a police officer is around $45,000. Officers get health care, a retirement plan, vacation and holiday leave and sick leave.  I think that in 10 years, the job of a police officer will still be the same but they may have more advanced training techniques or more advanced equipment.  I don’t being a police officer would require anything to do with any foreign countries unless you are near a border but, even then, here is still border patrol.

 This career would support my lifestyle goals. All I want is to be comfortable and be able to have enough to not have to worry or struggle with finances.  I can find a job as a police officer in any city. Even though it won’t be as easy as that sounds, every city or town has a police force.  This job would fall under the protective career cluster.

 An FBI agent is in charge of investigating many different kinds of criminal activity. This ranges from bank robberies to terrorism. I am interested in this job because it involves me being able to help this country and protect it on an even bigger scale than I would as a police officer.

 The values of this job are to ensure that this country is safe and secure and that we are to not be harmed by any terrorists or criminals. This fits my values because I want to make a difference in this country and make people feel safe and put away the people who feel the need to harm anyone who don’t deserve to be.  The tasks and responsibilities of an FBI agent vary greatly. What they do in a typical day depends on the investigation they are working on. They could be following a suspect or interrogating a terrorist.

 Agents have to deal with data people and things. They have files of wanted criminals that they have to read and be aware of and they have to study who they are investigating or the case that they are investigating. They have to work with fellow agents and, obviously, criminals. They also have to know how to use a gun very well.  The work environment for an agent would likely be very stressful at times but they would go from being in an office for awhile to being outside locating a criminal or investigating a case.

 They do not have typical work days, again, it all depends on what they are doing. They are always on call.  To become an agent, you need to have good writing skills, you have to be in excellent shape physically and mentally and be able to use a firearm very well.  Most FBI agents have a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. You are also required to have 3 years of experience in a related work force, 20/20 vision in one eye and at least 20/40 vision in the other. You will have to go through an 18-week training program after being hired as well.

They also receive group health and life insurance programs, vacation and sick pay, and a full retirement plan.  I think that, in 10 years, the job of an FBI agent will still be the same. They will most likely just have updated tactics and equipment.  This job could potentially require a lot of traveling and, often, last minute relocation to another city, state or even another country.

 I think that this career would fit my lifestyle goals because just living a comfortable life would make me happy and this job would support that and give me room for a little bit extra to do for my family or for others.  I could find a place to get a job as an agent in most big cities but I could be transferred or relocated many times and sometimes on very short notice.  This fits into the protective career cluster.
