ILLINOIS ARTICULATION INITIATIVE – IAI TRANSFER GENERAL EDUCATION COURSES The Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI) is the statewide agreement among all of the public and some selected private four-year and two- year higher education institutions in Illinois. The Illinois Transferable General Education Core Curriculum (GECC) consists of 12 to 13 courses (37 to 41 semester hours of credit) within 5 areas. 5. Issues Related to Determining Transferability In an effort to help students better identify how courses taken will be applied in a receiving institution, a state-wide initiative was recently developed called U.Select. This on-line program is now up & running, but still being refined
