2 Abraham Lincoln I was a Republican. I debated with Stephen Douglas. I was the Union president during the Civil War.

3 Thomas Jefferson I served as George Washington’s Secretary of State. The Democratic Republicans formed to give me support for my election. I wrote the Declaration of Independence.

4 Robert E. Lee I was asked to be the Union Commander during the Civil War. I surrendered at Appomattox Court House. I led the Confederate Army during the Civil War.

5 Andrew Jackson I got rid of the “National Bank” I am on the Twenty Dollar Bill I was responsible Indian Removal Act and the Trail of Tears

6 Ulysses S. Grant I served in the military during the Civil War. I was in charge of the battles in the West, which allowed the North to control the Mississippi. Robert E. Lee surrendered to me at Appomattox Court House.

7 George Washington I made a name for myself as a 22 year old officer in the French and Indian War. I was commander of the Continental Army during the American Revolution. I was the first president of the United States of America.

8 Eli Whitney I was employed as a tutor for a rich family for a while. I invented interchangeable parts. I invented the cotton gin.

9 Harriet Beecher Stowe I was an abolitionist. The Southerners said I did not know what I was talking about. I wrote Uncle Tom’s Cabin.

10 Harriet Tubman I was a runaway slave. I made 17 trips into the South to help other slaves escape. I was nicknamed “The Black Moses” because of my work on the Underground Railroad.

11 Dred Scott I was a slave. My master moved me to Illinois. I sued to get my freedom, but I lost.

12 Frederick Douglass I am an escaped slave. I had a newspaper called “The North Star” I am the most famous speaker for the abolitionist movement.

13 Alexander Hamilton I created the National Bank. I was the Secretary of the Treasury during George Washington’s presidency. I was shot and killed by Vice President Aaron Burr.

14 Samuel Adams I was a “Son of Liberty” He formed the “Committees of Correspondence” I led the Boston Tea Party

15 Thomas Paine I believed having a King was wrong. I am a patriot and author. I wrote Common Sense.

16 Benjamin Franklin I attended the convention to create both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, of which I was the oldest. I am a founding father and inventor. I wrote the Albany Plan of Union to unite the colonies against the French.

17 Christopher Columbus I grew up in Portugal. I had a plan to sail west in order to get to the Asian Spice Trade. The Columbian Exchange is named after me.

18 Meriwether Lewis I was Thomas Jefferson’s private secretary. I was part of the “Corp of Discovery” William Clark and I led the expedition to explore the Louisiana Territory.

19 King George III I was called a “Royal Brute” by Thomas Paine I was responsible for instituting the Tea Act King of England during the American Revolution

20 Elizabeth Cady Stanton I was involved in the abolitionist movement. I attended an abolitionist convention in London, but had to stay in the other room because I am a woman. I organized the Seneca Falls Convention to gain attention for women’s rights.

21 Jefferson Davis I was in the army before the Civil War. I am a Southerner. I became the President of the Confederate States of America.

22 William Penn A state is named after me. I am a Quaker. I established a colony in Pennsylvania

23 James Madison My wife, Dolly, saved George Washington’s portrait during the War of 1812. I am known as the Father of the Constitution. I was instrumental in the court case that established Judicial Review.

24 Marquis de Lafayette I fought during the American Revolution. I am French. I was a close advisor to Washington.

25 Patrick Henry I was an antifederalist. I was a patriot. I said “Give me liberty, or give me death!”

26 Hernando Cortez I am from Spain. I am a Conquistador. I conquered the Aztecs.

27 Francisco Pizzaro I am from Europe I am a conquistador who traveled to Peru. I conquered the Incas

28 Napolean Bonaparte I was involved in war. I am French. I sold my territory to the US for $15million dollars.

29 Crispus Attucks I am a patriot. I am African American. I was shot and killed at the Boston Massacre.

30 Sacagewea I am a Native American. I was kidnapped by the Mandan Tribe. I served as a guide to Lewis and Clark.
