Import an Outline from Word From the Microsoft Office Button, choose Open to open the outline file from within PowerPoint. From the Home tab, in the Slides group, click the down arrow on the New Slide button and choose Slides from Outline.

Insert a Microsoft Word Document From the Insert tab, in the Text group, click the Object button. Choose the Create from File option. Click the Browse button, and choose the file name. On the Insert Object Dialog box, click OK to insert the object.

Reuse Slides from a Different Presentation From the Home tab, in the Slides group, click the down arrow on the New Slide button and choose Reuse Slides. Click Browse and Browse File to locate the presentation and click Open. Click on a slide in the list to insert it into the current presentation. Click the Close button on the Reuse Slides task pane.

Link an Excel Worksheet Open the Excel worksheet, select the range you want to link, and click the Copy button. Within PowerPoint, from the Home tab, in the Clipboard group, click the down arrow on the Paste button and choose Paste Special. Choose Paste Link and Microsoft Office Excel Worksheet Object. Click OK.

Use Cascade to Layer Multiple Presentation Windows Open two presentations. In either presentation, from the View tab, in the Window group, click the Cascade button. The active presentation’s window is on top.

Use Arrange All to See Multiple Presentation Windows In either presentation, from the View tab, in the Window group, click the Arrange All button. The presentations are now side by side, making it easy to compare and change both presentations.

Copy and Paste between Presentations In one presentation, select the slide to be copied in the Slides and Outline pane. From the Home tab, in the Clipboard group, click the Copy button. Make the second presentation active, and click after the slide where you want to paste. From the Home tab, in the Clipboard group, click the Paste button.

Use Format Painter to Copy Formatting between Presentations In the first presentation that is your formatting source, select the title slide in the Slides and Outline pane. From the Home tab, in the Clipboard group, click the Format Painter button.

Use Format Painter to Copy Formatting between Presentations In the second presentation where the formatting will be applied, click on the title slide in the Slides and Outline pane to make this presentation active. Click the slide again to apply the formatting from the other presentation.

Insert and Edit Comments in a Presentation When the Show Markup button is active, comments are represented on the slide by a comment marker. Double-clicking the comment marker will allow you to read the comment, but comments will not print on the slides or display during a slide show. You can turn off Show Markup so the comments do not display on the slide.

Print Slide Comments From the Microsoft Office Button, choose Print to open the Print dialog box. –Set up the dialog box so that all slides will print as handouts, nine slides per page, grayscale, scale to fit paper, framed. –At the bottom of the Print dialog box, check the Print comments and ink markup check box. Click Preview. –The comments appear on this separate page, identified by the slide on which they were placed and by the initials of the reviewer. Click Print and then click OK.

Design a Logo and Save as a Picture Group the objects. Right-click on this grouped object and choose Save as Picture from the short-cut menu. In the Save as type list box, select your preferred format. Name the picture and save it.

Save a Slide as a Picture Move to the slide that will be saved as a picture. Click the Microsoft Office Button, point to the arrow next to Save As, and then click Other Formats. From the Save As dialog box, select a location to save and name the file. In the Save as type list box, select the appropriate format. In the message box that appears, click Current Slide Only.

Lesson 12 Summary—1 Outlines can be created in Word and imported into PowerPoint as presentation slides by using the Slides from Outline feature. A flyer or other Word document can be inserted into PowerPoint as a PowerPoint Object using the Object button found on the Insert tab. Slides from other presentations can be placed in a current presentation with Reuse Slides. –Choose whether to keep the source formatting or use the current slide formatting when reusing slides.
