2 General Information Hubei ( 湖北 ) is a province of the People's Republic of China, located in the easternmost part of Central China. The name of the province means "north of the lake“.

3 Provincial Capital 武汉 The provincial capital is Wuhan, a major transportation thoroughfare and the political, cultural, and economic hub of Central China. It lies in the eastern Jianghan Plain at the intersection of the middle reaches of the Yangtze and Han rivers. Arising out of the conglomeration of three cities, Wuchang, Hankou, and Hanyang, Wuhan is known as "the nine provinces' leading thoroughfare”. Wuhan was sometimes referred to as the "Chicago of China."

4 Tourist sites The Hubei Provincial Museum With over 200,000 valued artifacts, this is one of the leading museums in China. Especially the artefacts from the tomb of Marquis Yi, who lived in the 5th century B.C., is a world unique treasure. JiQing Street holds many roadside restaurants and street performers during the evening The Yellow Crane Tower is presumed to have been first built in approximately 220 AD. The tower has been destroyed and reconstructed numerous times, was burned last according to some sources in 1884. The tower underwent complete reconstruction in 1981. The reconstruction utilized modern materials and added an elevator, while maintaining the traditional design in the tower's outward appearance

5 武汉美食 — 热干面 热干面( Hot dry noodles ) has a history in Chinese food culture for 80 years. It is a typical breakfast food in Wuhan, and is often sold in street carts in residential areas. The finished hot dry noodles are firm and chewy, golden and oily, savory and fresh. It is made of noodles called JianMian ( 碱面 ) with a mixture of sauces and dried vegetables. Many stalls that make hot dry noodles will have their own variations in seasoning, creating signature tastes for individual stands or localities.

6 湖北人 ( People of Hubei) 湖北人 are well known for their loud voice, enthusiastic attitude towards people, and good skills at bargaining. Wuhan natives speak a variety of Southwestern Mandarin Chinese

7 Weather Wuhan's climate is humid subtropical with abundant rainfall and four distinctive seasons. Wuhan is known for its oppressively humid summers, when dew points can often reach 26 °C (79 °F) or more. Because of its hot summer weather, Wuhan is commonly known as one of the Three Furnaces of China. Spring and autumn are generally mild, while winter is cool with occasional snow. If you want travel to Wuhan, the best time is during the spring.

8 Population Hubei, especially Wuhan, is a very populous place. Hubei have about 60 million people The city of Wuhan has a population of 10,220,000 people (as of 2013)
