2 Creative Writing What Is Creative Writing? In Year 1 creative writing is about encouraging the children to use adjectives, sentence starters and begin to use connectives within their writing. The skills of creative writing can be used in a variety of genres such as; poetry, recounts, stories, instructions etc.

Pie Corbett is an expert in creative writing - more information about how he encourages children to write, can be found on the internet www.piecorbett.org.uk Although we have said this method can be used to write a range of texts, today we are going to show you how to use his method to build up a story with children who are at different levels of writing.
