1 NATURE-SDIplus Training Action Nature Conservation and INSPIRE introductory workshop (Hungary) 27 April 2011, GISIG AGENDA (GISIG Contribution): NATURE-SDIplus Project Introduction Training Framework (Concept) NATURE-SDIplus Training Framework Training Action  Training Path Organisation of Training Action

The Nature–SDI plus project Best Practice Network for SDI in Nature Conservation Co-funded by the Community Programme eContentplus ECP-2007-GEO-317007 Co-funded by the eContentplus Programme Project number: ECP-2007-GEO-317007 Project Coordinator: GISIG Starting date: 1 October, 2008 Project duration: 34 months (July 2011) Project web site: www.nature-sdi.eu

3 The INSPIRE Directive (2007/2/EC) The Natura 2000 Network (Habitat Dir. 92/43/EEC) New EU approach for nature management Necessity to link nature conservation and geoinformation Need for interoperable, accessible and harmonised datasets for nature conservation Support to environmental policies PROJECT BACKGROUND The project contributes to the implementation of the INSPIRE Directive with targeted reference to the following cluster of data themes of the INSPIRE Annexes:  Protected Sites (Annex I)  Biogeographical regions (Annex III)  Habitats and biotopes (Annex III)  Species distribution (Annex III)

4 Data Specification Annex I 1.RS:Coordinate reference systems 2.GG:Geographical grid systems 3.GN:Geographical names 4.AU:Administrative units 5.AD:Addresses 6.CP:Cadastral parcels 7.TN:Transport networks 8.HY:Hydrography 9.PS:Protected sites Annex II 1.EL:Elevation 2.LC:Land cover 3.OI:Ortho-imagery 4.GE:Geology 21.MR:Mineral resources (A III) 11.AM:Area management/ restriction/ regulation zones & reporting units 12.NZ:Natural risk zones 13.AC:Atmospheric conditions 14.MF:Meteorological geographical features 15.OF:Oceanographic geographical features 16.SR:Sea regions 17.BR:Bio-geographical regions 18.HB:Habitats and biotopes 19.SD:Species distribution 20.ER:Energy Resources Annex III 1.SU:Statistical units 10.PD:Population distribution – demography 2.BU:Buildings 3.SO:Soil 4.LU:Land use 5.HH:Human health and safety 6.US:Utility and governmental services 7.EF:Environmental monitoring facilities 8.PF:Production and industrial facilities 9.AF:Agricultural and aquaculture facilities Annex II+III Data specifications development: 19 Thematic Working Groups

Schematisation of the NATURE-SDIplus approach 5 Objectives To establish a Network on Geographical Information for nature conservation To share experiences and good practices To stimulate the community of nature conservation stakeholders at improving  the harmonisation,  the exploitation,  and the access to their datasets To evaluate and demonstrate common metadata profile and data model for the addressed data themes in supporting the INSPIRE Directive implementation at EU level
