2 Definition of Gifted GA Code160-4-2-.38
A student who demonstrates a high degree of intellectual and/or creative ability(ies), exhibits an exceptionally high degree of motivation, and/or excels in specific academic fields, and who needs special instruction and/or special ancillary services to achieve at levels commensurate with his or her abilities.

3 Eligibility Process Students must qualify in three of the following four areas: Mental Ability Achievement Creativity Motivation

4 Assessments Used for the Four Areas
Achievement Minimum of 90% on the total reading, total math, or complete composite -ITBS Mental Ability Minimum of 96% in at least one sub-test area -COGAT

5 Assessments Motivation Creativity
Grades k-12 -minimum of 90% on an assessment for motivation Grades G.P.A. for two consecutive semesters in English, math science, social studies, and foreign language if applicable. Creativity Minimum of 90% on an assessment for creativity -Renzulli (k-12) Step II: -CAP (k-12)

6 Assessments Continued
Motivation -Renzulli (k-12) Step II: -Y-Caimi (k-3) -Caimi (4-12) **Students are tested in grades 1,3, 5, and 7. Test scores can be used for two years.

7 Step II Process Students can appear on a Step II list for testing if the following occurs: -Two qualifying scores using the Renzulli and a qualifying score in achievement or mental ability *If a student qualifies in one category, the student is not eligible for the program. *If a student only qualifies in creativity and motivation, the student is not eligible for the program.

8 Kindergarten Eligibility
Consists of Portfolio Information -Two pieces of artwork -List of books read by the student -One writing/story work sample -One math work sample -One item-BLT Score, A.R. Level/GKAP/or Gifted Observation Checklist

9 Placement in a Gifted Class
Qualification based upon the eligibility process A signed PCE (Parent Consent to Evaluate) form-if additional testing is needed for the Step II Program for Gifted Newsletter sent home to the parents Placement in Discovery (Elementary School) or Impact (Middle and High School)
