Is this arrangement intended to help your can stay warm (or get cool) by conduction or convection or radiation)? How does it do that?  Conduction  For hot can, I used paper wrapped around it. I think that way could kept the can as warm as possible. Because the cold air can’t approach the water in the can.  For cool can, I think we don’t need to do anything and it will cooler. Because the cold air will approach the water in the can, and make the water cooler.

What was the total water temperature changes in both cans?  The total water temperature changes in hot can is 2.9c.  The total water temperature changes in cool can is 12c.

How does the temperature in your can compare in the control cans? Does that mean that your arrangement is working ? The hot can and the cold can star at the same temperature. After 30 minutes, the temperature of hot can is 42c to 37.1c. And the temperature of cold is 42c to 30c. So we think our work well.

Hot and cold cans system Hot can And H2o Paper wrap around Cold can and H2o Air around

Modify my device  For hot can: we will put it on the hot water because we think the heat came from the steam and wrap paper would make the can warmer.  For cold can: we will put the can outside because the temperature of outside is cooler than in side the building.
