Working-out with the queen

STORY TIME Queen Hadassah (Esther) The most joyous festival: It is a rabbinic command to make a noise, do silly things and drink alcohol on this day. A day for dressing up and having dramas. Reading the Megillah (with groggers and handkerchiefs)

Enter the Queen 2:17 The king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained favor and kindness in his sight more than all the virgins; so that he set the royal crown on her head, and made her queen instead of Vashti.

Fit for a king Before Esther (or any other woman) could enter the king’s presence, she first had to go through a one year long “beauty school” (2:12) What would be part of the curriculum of a beauty school for potential queens?

X-ercise In order to approach the King, Esther needed to look pleasing to him. What do we need to be pleasing to our KING?

Hebrew School Hebrew is based on consonants Words with the same consonants are closely related … they come from the same root. E.g. aDoM = red aDaMa = soil aDaM = human being

Word Games The Hebrew word for exercise is: iMuN. The word eMuN means … FAITH

Faith pleases the Father “He (Abraham) had faith in the L-RD; and He reckoned it to him as righteousness.” (Gen. 15:6) We cannot see The King if we don’t have faith.

123-123-123-123-123-123… Having faith is like working-out … It takes effort. It takes time. It gets messy. Most of all … It pays off! You get to marry the KING and vanquish your enemies!

HAPPY PURIM!
