Jim Dunford 10/13 MAYPORT ELEMENTARY‘ S K KIDS CLUB ABOUT KIWANIS Thank you, Tyler, for your interesting and informative presentation. MEETING ASSIGNMENTS Last week, Mayport Elementary's K Kids club held its first meeting of the new school year. This year, 20 third and fourth graders will be participating in Mayport's K Kids club. At this first meeting, the club elected new officers. They were also given a copy of the K Kids pledge, and will memorize it as part of their participation in the club. The new group of students, along with some parents, listening as sponsor Jan Rawlins talked about the club and what the students will be doing this year. The new officers, pictured L to R are the new president, secretary, treasurer and vice-president. Tyler Morris, Marketing Director with the Independent Living Resource Center, gave a great overview of the services this organization offers. It has been serving individuals with disabilities since 1978 and offers an array of program s including Disabled Victims Advocate, Deaf Consumer Program, Youth Services, High School High Tech, Career Development, Work Incentives Planning and Assistance Project, Nursing Home Transition, Peer Mentoring, BROOKS Temporary Loan Closet, Computer Classes and Disability Awareness Training.
