4 Net Force is the overall force acting on an object. For example, if there is a 10N force acting upwards, and a 5N force acting downwards, then the net force is 5N upwards. A Force is any influence that causes an object to undergo a change in speed, a change in direction, or a change in shape. An example of Force is a cart being pulled up a hill.

23 Newton’s 3 Laws….

24 First Law: An object in motion will remain in motion…an object at rest will remain at rest…unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.

25 second law: the acceleration of an object is directly proportional to the force acting on it and inversely proportional to its mass in other words: F = ma where F is force m is mass a is acceleration

26 third law: for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. aka: action/reaction

33 simple machines do NOT change the amount of work…. they either reduce the input force or change the direction of the force needed. If the force is reduced, the distance of the effort is increased!
