1 Burton Style Analysis Essay: Plan, Outline, & Draft Plan, outline, and draft your essay (see rubric) Remember the prompt: What have you learned about style and film? Think about the Burton films you have viewed and analyzed. Decide on the approach you want to take per the essay instructions. Choose three or four stylistic elements that are common to these films. Write an essay analyzing the cinematic style of the director, Tim Burton. Your essay should focus on the ways in which the director uses stylistic techniques across films to achieve a desired effect and which shows his unique style.

2 Peer Review Share your essay at least one other person in class. Read through the essay first. Don’t comment. Then go back and provide feedback on Ideas and Structure using the rubric’s requirements. Remember to provide positive comments as well as constructive criticism. Question the writer if needed. Provide suggestions for change where necessary. Read the requirements for Use of Language on the scoring guide. Look through your peer’s essay for elements in that section. Go back and review for conventions- don’t fix them, just mark them as incorrect.

3 Review & Revise for Final Essay Review the comments and feedback provided by your peer. Ask any questions you have. Begin the revision process using the feedback and the rubric. Do another self edit using the rubric before submitting your final draft in GoogleDocs by Monday, June 1 st.
