ACD Calibrations in L&EO Needed Calibrations Pedestals (low and high range) Low range gains via MIP peak positions Veto and HLD discriminator set points Expressed in terms of PHA (aka ADC) counts High range gains via CNO data Coherent Noise correction Calibrations pedestal oscillations seen after event readout Magnitude of oscillations in ~0.05 -0.10 MIP range This effect is not simulated, so we need to remove in correctly Simulating is difficult b/c it requires event to event timing

Data taking needs Pedestals and Coherent Noise Low range pedestal come from 2Hz periods in nomSciOps Special “LCI” run for high range pedestals (few minutes) MIP peak positions 2K mips / tile -> 30 min @ 300 Hz of MIPS Veto and HLD discriminator set points Special runs to scan 3 set points around nominal setting Veto: 0.30, 0.45, 0.60 MIPs HLD: Z = 4,5,6 Couple hundred events near threshold / tile Rate in orbit configuration still uncertain ~ 200 Hz with MIP filter -> 45 minutes / point High range calibration via CNO data Use CNO events, but not certain about usable rate in orbit configuration yet

Data Processing Needs, Timescale Analysis scripts exist for: Pedestals MIP peaks Veto and HLD set points Coherent Noise correction Analysis turnaround time is < 1 hour after run is processed Configuration generation and validation turnaround is < 1 day Need work for ACD high range calibration w/ CNO events Important to note that the timescale for getting this done is longer that the other analyses See talk by Alex Moiseev

Data taking configurations for L & EO Preliminary versions of all configurations needed for L&EO are specified Some tuning of Onboard filter settings might Run types AcdPedestal LCI (charge injection) run Pedestals VetoCal (aka Veto and HLD scan) Veto and HLD set points nomSciOps, conSciOps, calibOps MIP peaks, coherent noise, high range calibration Cal* ACD can piggyback on various CAL calibration run types Not currently set up that way.

Current status from TVAC Pedetals, MIP peaks and veto thresholds measured at Ambient temperature HOT thermal balance (closest to expected orbit conditions) COLD thermal balance Moderate thermal variation observed Pedestals vary by ~1 PHA count / deg MIP peaks increase by ~5-10% at COLD Veto set points vary only slightly Configurations built from HOT calibrations Validated against existing configurations from room temp Differences agree with know thermal variations

Other analysis topics for L & EO Mapping out tile and ribbon efficiencies Should be done with existing muon data Edge effects Screw holes in tiles Light loss along ribbons Characterizing backsplash into ACD Using ACD to study tracking alignment/ resolution Preliminary work has been done in all these areas
