2 EU-JordanNet Call Deadline : according to the 2011 People Work Programme (perhaps December 2010) Brief definition of ITN : The ITN networks of public and private institutions are joint research training programmes based mainly in Europe but also open to institutions from Third Countries as Jordan and responding to identified training needs in defined scientific or technological areas. Objectives : ITN programme aims to train future generations of researchers (in the first five years of their career) who are capable of contributing more to the economic development and to a knowledge society. It is intended to offer structured training in well defined scientific and/or technological areas and also to contribute to the employability of the researcher in public and private sectors.

3 EU-JordanNet Eligible Jordan host research organisation : participation and funding of European organisations as well as organisations from a Third Country, as Jordan, are allowed (universities, research organisations, industrial firms, SME’s, spin-offs, international organisations, etc.), proposing a coherent and integrated research training programme Minimum participants : 1. Multi-partner ITN : at least 3 participants established in at least three different Member States or Associated countries. Above this minimum, the participation of “ third countries” as Jordan is possible. 2. Mono-partner ITN : Mono-partner ITNs includes a single participant established in a Member State or Associated country. One or more Jordan institutions may be associated partners of the network. The manageable size of a network is in the range of 6 to 10 partners.

4 EU-JordanNet Eight Marie Curie scientific panels supported : Chemistry ; Social and Human Sciences ; Economic Sciences ; Information Science and Engineering ; Environment and Geosciences ; Life Sciences ; Mathematics ; Physics.

5 EU-JordanNet Financing methods : the financing covers the following expenses 1. For the host organisation : Management activities : a maximum of 7% of the Community contribution Contribution to overheads : a maximum of 10 % of the Community contribution Contribution to the research (ITN costs) : EUR 1200 per researcher Expenses linked to the organisation of short training events (international conferences, workshops, seminars…) 2. For the researcher : Monthly living allowance (to which the correction factor for the cost of living is applied) : EUR 36 700/year for early-stage researchers (0<4 years experience) and EUR 56 400/year for experienced researcher (4 years experience minimum) Monthly mobility allowance : EUR 500 (without a family) or EUR 800 (with a family) to which the correction factor for the cost of living is applied Travel allowance Monthly contribution to the participation expenses of eligible researchers : between EUR 300 (for non- laboratory based research projects) and EUR 600 (for laboratory based research projects) Career exploratory allowance (with a stay of at least one year) : EUR 2000The budget will range from e.g EURO 1,5 million for mono-sites and twinnings up to EUR 4,5 million for the largest multi-sites.

6 EU-JordanNet Duration of the training : the maximum duration of funding for Initial Training Networks will normally be four years from the contractual start date. How to apply ?
