2 Vocabulary Review A ratio is a comparison of two quantities by division. 17 out of 20 students, or A rate is a special type of ratio comparing two quantities with different units. Driving 120 miles in 2 hours, or A unit rate is a rate that is simplified so that it has a denominator of 1 unit.

3 The unit price is $0.28 per juice box.
Example 1: A case of 24 juice boxes is on sale for $ What is the unit price per juice box? Write a verbal model of what you are comparing. Substitute in the values given for each quantity. Divide the numerator and denominator by 24 to find the unit rate. The unit price is $0.28 per juice box.
