1 I NTRODUCING WP7: D ISSEMINATION Mario Zamponi Centre of Historical and Political Studies on Africa and the Middle East Dept. of Politics, Institutions, History - University of Bologna

2 W HO WE ARE Centre of Historical and Political Studies on Africa and the Middle EastThe Centre of Historical and Political Studies on Africa and the Middle East, based in the Department of Politics, Institutions, History (University of Bologna) has the main aim to promote research about Africa and the Middle East within political sciences, contemporary political and social institutions, development issues. Activities of the Centre include research, network initiatives with other Centres, organization of conferences, workshops, and seminars, realization and promotion of scientific publications. Its members are professors, lecturers and young researchers with a consolidated experience in interdisciplinary research. Chair of the Centre is Professor Anna Maria Gentili.

3 D ISSEMINATION AIM Dissemination aims at raising the awareness of the Project activity among all stakeholders / final beneficiaries and assure the effective communication within consortium and with other relevant actors outside the project consortium

4 O BJECTIVES To raise the awareness on Project activity among all the stakeholders; Effective communication with other relevant actors outside the project consortium; Facilitate collaborative exchange and knowledge transfer between participating partners; Assure a wide circulation of both project background and knowledge generated by the project.

5 E XPECTED RESULTS CoBaSys feasible and efficient system of communication established. Dissemination activities will make aware of the Project strategy and objectives the identified stakeholders and project final beneficiaries.

7 S TRATEGY dissemination planThe project consortium will develop a dissemination plan following the Communication and Visibility Manual for EU External Actions to inform all stakeholders of the progress outcomes and results of the project and to inform, initiate actions, to improve information and its exchange, policy and decision making, leading to sharing knowledge and skills, building policies, debating and learning for sustained and meaningful change.

9 W EBSITE international mailing listTo increase the effectiveness and the visibility of the website it is suggested that an international mailing list of potential website users is created. All partners are encouraged to create a mailing list of contacts. officially launched by the end of FebruaryIt is proposed that the website is officially launched by the end of February registerIt is also advisable that the website users are asked to register to download documents (newsletter etc) so that we can keep track of the number of contacts. Website statisticsWebsite statistics should be periodically monitored (for example to see how many users are from Africa).

10 The dissemination strategy, objectives, tasks, deliverables and expected results are explained in detail in the WP7. However, many of the WPs have strong implications in terms of dissemination and/or list specific objectives and deliverables that should be realized with the support of the unit coordinating the dissemination strategy. Therefore, it is important that all the partners coordinate with UNIBO for what concerns dissemination activities. The use of the partners’ forum within the website is strongly encouraged to this aim.

11 WP1: C OORDINATION AND MANAGEMENT ACTIVITIES Objective 1.2. Information distribution: keep partners, and the ACP Secretariat, fully informed about the project status. Deliverables: 1.4. Annual meeting organization of project Steering & Scientific Committee – meeting report; D1.5. Progress reports in conformity with ACP secretariat’s agreement; D1.6 Final publication by project coordinator on major financial and administrative issues.

12 WP2: S TART UP OF THE LOCAL FOCUS GROUPS ( MONTHS 2-18) The partner responsible for the wide management of this activity will be Training and Research Support Centre – TARSC - Zimbabwe. European partners will follow the activity implementation and results working in close cooperation with eastern and southern African partners developing coordinating missions. Deliverables 2.1. Template of focus group meetings; D2.2. Minutes of focus groups meetings for each target area, drafted by project partners and available on the project website; D2.3. Final publication concerning the activity results (after month 18)

13 WP3 M ODEL OF C OMMUNITY BASED C ARE S YSTEM ( MONTH 9-24) In each involved countries roundtables at national level will be organised in order to put together experiences of all relevant actors in defining HIV/AIDS policies. Deliverables: D3.1. Minutes of roundtables; D3.2. Final publication related to Model of Community Based Care System (month 24); D3.3. Awareness campaign: The campaign will be implemented using banners, short publications and graphical cartoon imagery for the illiterate. Radio broadcasting will also be considered in order to target this latter group. D3.4. Banners, short publications and radio broadcasts in local languages.

14 WP4 S ETTING UP OF STAKEHOLDER FOR A ( MONTH 18-24) Objective 4.2: to promote dialogue at regional level Task 4.3: consultation on research needs. Among all the research centres involved debates and consultations on research needs will be promoted in relation to the knowledge already existing on HIV treatments and how to improve them with a community based approach. Deliverables: D4.1. Minutes of on-line discussion; D4.2. Policy proposal at regional level; D4.3. Final publications on possible policies to be adopted and research needs of the concerned areas (after month 24). Results of the activity will also be available on the CoBaSys web site.

15 WP5 B UILD UP OF COOPERATIVE NETWORK EU-A FRICA ( MONTH 24-30) Task 5.1. Inter-regional meeting of Stakeholder fora. 5.3. Training sessions on fund raising. Deliverables 5.1. Inter-regional meeting reports available on the CoBaSys website; 5.2. Report on networking activities available on the CoBaSys website; 5.3. Report of training sessions available on the CoBaSys website (all reports after month 30).

16 All these activities are to be implemented by the respective unit or units in charge, as indicated in the project. The role of UNIBO is to: collaborate to define the elements of dissemination of the different WPs; advise on possible strategies; participate (also with short field trips) in the implementation of dissemination activities as stated in the WPs; support on the update of the website.

17 OTHER DISSEMINATION ACTIVITIES Quarterly newsletter (in English, Italian, Portuguese, Swahili…, from March 2010) 1 international workshop (Bologna – 2011?) and/or a cycle of international seminars 1 edited book (end of the project) Activities in high-schools in Italy (and work package to be distributed among all partners: during the 36 months) Participation in international conferences (during the 36 months)
