Basic Install Issues 1. Lack of manageability 2. Authentication issues (half-baked Kerberos) 3. Service accounts – there are none 4. Moving from a single server to a farm is a nightmare 5. SQL Express limitations: 1 CPU, 1 GB of RAM max, 4GB storage limit

Takeaways The “Free SharePoint” version (WSS 3.0) offers a lot of OOB functionality: rapid site provisioning, AD integration, MS Office integration, versioning support MOSS 2007 offers all of WSS functionality plus additional templates, user profiles (My Sites), Business Data Catalog (BDC), robust enterprise search, BI, RSS feeds Both products can be customized and extended using SharePoint Designer (free program), PowerShell, or Visual Studio (.NET dev)
