2 What Was The Boston Massacre? BBBBritish soldiers misheard their leader while being pelted and tormented with snow by Boston colonists~ the soldiers thought the leader had said “Fire!” at the colonists and shot into the crowd with their muskets, preloaded, killing five colonists, wounding six more.

3 Who Was There? WWWWho~ A mob of fifty ~ sixty colonists led by a man named Crispus Attucks who was killed in the massacre, gathered around a British guard, who then called for backup. Captain Preston and seven other soldiers came to help.

6 Causes Of The Boston Massacre Cause~ Colonists surrounded British soldiers and called them names, insulting their red coats by calling them “ lobsterbacks ” and threw rocks and snow. They also dared the British to fire their muskets into the crowd.

7 Effects of the Boston Massacre The massacre was named the Boston Massacre to rally the colonists against the British It convinced the colonists that they should not be ruled by Britain Afterwards the British repealed all the unpopular taxes except for on tea, which angered the colonists and later caused the Boston Tea Party Preston and his soldiers were put on jail trials; Presto was acquitted, while two soldiers were found guilty of manslaughter

8 Colonists Point Of View The colonists of Boston and other Patriots believed that the British shot at the mob for no apparent reason. Paul Revere’ s engraving proves this, as he portrayed the British shooting mercilessly at a peaceful crowd of colonists with no weapons.
