The tree can be collapsed by clicking on the +/- sign in front of the model. All bodies visibility can be managed by turning ON/OFF tick mark at the model level. SimLab Objects

6 Copyright © 2010 Altair Engineering, Inc. All rights reserved.Altair Proprietary and Confidential Information Query the objects Select the object in the tree view or the screen and right click to see the objects property. For example, Select a body from tree view and ask for its property. Select the object on the screen on look for information in the output window (ex: Select a node and its xyz values will be listed on the screen) SimLab Objects

All rights reserved.Altair Proprietary and Confidential Information Object ID An object is identified by The name of the model it is in The id within this model Identify an Object When an object is selected on the screen, its id will be displayed in the output window. Select a node on the screen and its id is displayed in the output window Select a element on the screen and its id, type, its nodes are displayed in the output window Given an id the object on the screen can be identified by Setting the entity type to the object type (like face, edge, node, element) Type in the object id Set the right model name you are looking for this object SimLab Objects

9 Copyright © 2010 Altair Engineering, Inc. All rights reserved.Altair Proprietary and Confidential Information CAD models when imported have 2 ids, the CAD id and the SimLab assigned ID called Body ID Within a model All geometry ids are unique (A face cannot have the same id as a body or a vertex) All nodes ids are unique All element ids are unique CAD Bodies cannot be moved between models Mesh Bodies can be moved between Mesh models Mesh bodies can be renamed while CAD bodies cannot If a CAD or a Mesh body is not visible, see if its display is enabled under “Visibility” The LBC and the Mesh seeds will displayed only if “Load” and “Mesh Seed” under Visibility is turned on. All dialog boxes have “Apply”, “OK and “Cancel” Remarks
