Multilingual Internet Names Few organizations provide Chinese keywords services similar to realnames Chinese Government authorized CNNIC to be responsible for domain name administration and registration Chinese Government do not allow other organizations to do domain name registration services

m-DNS Whole Architecture Every country has top level domain name Compatible with traditional DNS resolve m-DNS to traditional DNS, and then to IP address client, m-dns servers

C-DNS Whole Architecture Chinese Domain Name should at least be composed of one Chinese Character and can be composed of letters (A-Z, a-z, not case- sensitive), digits (0-9) and the hyphen (-). Each level of the domain name shall be separated by a dot (.). May not be longer than 25 characters

C-DNS Whole Architecture Support multiple character sets: GB, BIG5, HZ,UTF-8 easy management and operation

Registration Policy about c-dns Launch experimental registration on Jan 18 Policy Restriction –one organization at most 50 domains, one organization at most 5 domains per day –Applicants for domain name registration must be organizations that have been registered according to law and can independently assume civil liability. Individuals may not apply for domain name registration.

Thoughts about SLDs Every country can make its own decision similar to ccTLD –similar SLDs as ones under ccTLD –different SLDs compared with ones under SLDs –without SLDs

Dispute Policy Currently defined by administrative rules for registration, will modify the dispute rules taking ICANN Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy as references

Methods to safeguard the interests of the state, society or the public Pre-register the domain names –for famous trademark –for famous web sites –for famous companies –for administrative division names –for important individual names –for government departments

Methods to safeguard the interests of the state, society or the public Personal audit before final registration –to decide that the domain name is not harmful to the interests of the state, society or the public within individual knowledge range –BUT not insure that the domain name is not harmful to the interests of the state, society or the public

Methods to safeguard the interests of the state, society or the public Restriction –one organization at most 50 domains, one organization at most 5 domains per day –Individuals may not apply for domain name registration.

Registration Mechanism First-come-first-served basis Users can choose –Apply through agents ( some agents are CNNIC authorized qualified agents) –Directly apply to CNNIC All of Registration data are kept in CNNIC
