1 CTE LATERAL ENTRY TEACHERS All Lateral Entry Teachers will receive a Provisional License. Each must complete requirements outlined by NCDPI within 3 years to obtain a clear NC teacher license.

4 I have received my license I have not received my license   6-12 weeks after CMS submits paperwork you will receive a NC Provisional Teaching License  This will be mailed to your home address

6 3 Year Lateral Entry Licensing Options CTE’s Lateral Teacher Assistance Program (LTAP), in partnership with CPCC utilizes existing Professional Development classes within the district and CPCC. LTAP is designed to meet licensure competencies under the NC Professional Teacher Standards. LTAP www.ralc.us Alternative path to obtain NC license. RALC will review past experience/education and create a plan of study. RALC Affiliate with a North Carolina approved university that offers an education program in your area of study. They will outline courses necessary to obtain clear license. Approved NC University Choose 1 of the following – NOT interchangeable

12 Strand I - Spring 2013 LTAP Options  Strand I: CPCC The dates are: March 18 – May 10 th  Registration is open for Spring ’13 classes. Students can register up to the day that class starts. But we advise that they do so by at least February so that they can be guaranteed a “seat” for the class. Note that when students register (either now or later) they will need to be prepared to pay at that time.  EDU 271-L01 -- Educational Technology (Book is Integrating Educational Technology into Teaching ) EDU 243-L01 -- Learning Theory (Book is Learning and Instruction: Theory into Practice) EDU 244-L01 – Human Growth and Development (Middle Childhood to Middle Adolescence) EDU 163-L01—Classroom Management and Instruction (Book is Effective Classroom Management)  These will all be online classes. Students will log in on the 18 th of March from our website and link into Blackboard. 13 Strand II: CMS Professional Development  Requirement – 2 of 3 New Teacher Academy courses  New Teacher Academy – Classroom Management – Secondary Date: February 21 & March 21 Time: 8:30 – 3:30  New Teacher Academy – Instructional Strategies – Secondary Date: January 31 & February 28 Time: 8:30 – 3:30  New Teacher Academy – Independent Study – 2 nd year teachers Independent Study opens on January 2nd. This online course (mini action research project) lasts 8 weeks.
