2 + Sentence Fragments p.56 A sentence fragment is a word group punctuated as a sentence yet lacking a subject, a verb, or both Every sentence needs a subject, verb, or both. 3 + Verbs in the Correct Form p. 66 Verify that you have used the correct verb form. Verbs need to agree with the tense. IRREGULAR VERBS Some verbs do not follow the same rule to change it to past tense. EX. 4 + Ending a Sentence in a PREPOSITION p. 76 Do not end a sentence in a preposition. It separates the preposition from the object. Instead, move the preposition to the beginning or change your wording. In some cases, authors need to put a preposition at the end to achiev a specific affect. EXAMPLES INSTEAD OF THIS: How did the table get on top? WRITE THIS: How did the table get on top of the chair? INSTEAD OF THIS: Where did you come from? WRITE THIS: From where did you come from?
