1 Keeping your children safe online.

2 Why is E-Safety important?
The world we live in uses all kinds of media all of the time. This is constantly changing and children want to be, and are, part of this. There are obvious dangers with children having access to the internet. The vast majority of what and who is on the internet is not policed. Ultimately, it’s about keeping your children safe.

3 Children’s use of technology at school
Primarily, at school, children use the internet and computers to learn and it is undoubtedly a wonderful resource with a wealth of information. Children use their own user id and passwords in order to begin teaching them about password security. The Computing Curriculum is designed to not only teach children about computers and technology but also to teach them how to use them both safely.

5 How you can ensure your children are safe at home?
Do you monitor what your children are doing whilst on computers and games consoles? Do you have anti-virus software? This can stop children receiving s and pop ups which may not be appropriate but also may harm the computer. Have you activated pop up blockers and filtering through Internet Options on your computer?

6 Are your children on facebook
Are your children on facebook? (You have to be 13 to legally be allowed to set up a facebook account but we know there are lots of children under this age who are on it). If they are on it, do they have their privacy settings at an appropriate level? (Simply search facebook privacy settings guide into a search engine for help)

7 Finally… Have you spoken to your child about E-Safety and the importance of staying safe online?
