Goal is to provide solution for Water Supply in LaPlace Variables that have changed since study completed in 2006 on proposed water plant for east bank of St. John Reverse osmosis membrane units installed at Woodland Drive New filters installed at Lions Plant New regulations from LDHH Hurricane Isaac exposed vulnerabilities Proposed Conceptual Engineering Design for LaPlace water source includes six tasks Water Committee recommended the proposed tasks Introduction
4
Task 1 – New Water Intake Pump Station on MS River in LaPlace Task 2 – New Transmission Main from MS River to Reverse Osmosis Unit Site on Woodland Drive Task 3 – Pre-treatment at Reverse Osmosis Unit Site on Woodland Drive Task 4 – Modifications to the Lions Water Treatment Plant Task 5 – New Distribution Pump Station and Transmission Main form Lions Plant to LaPlace Task 6 – Operation and Maintenance Costs to Maintain Ruddock Well System vs. Cost to Decommission List of Tasks
6
Task 1 – New Water Intake Pump Station on MS River in LaPlace Identify, investigate and determine best location Provide conceptual engineering design and cost estimate for new pump station Conceptual Engineering Proposed Tasks
7
Task 2 – New Transmission Main from Mississippi River to Reverse Osmosis Unit on Woodland Drive Determine route alternatives and provide conceptual engineering of alternatives Perform comparison evaluation of most feasible route Develop conceptual cost estimate for route alternatives Conceptual Engineering Proposed Tasks (Cont.)
8
Task 3 – Pre-treatment at Reverse Osmosis Unit Site on Woodland Drive Analyze alternative treatment options Calculate required treatment capacity and pre-treatment options available Provide conceptual engineering and costs for pre-treatment units Conceptual Engineering Proposed Tasks (Cont.)
9
Task 4 – Modifications to the Lions Water Treatment Plant Determine modifications required to meet LDHH regulations Provide conceptual engineering and cost estimates for modifications to meet LDHH regulations Conceptual Engineering Proposed Tasks (Cont.)
10
Task 5 – New Distribution Pump Station and Transmission Water Main from Lions Plant to LaPlace Provide conceptual engineering of new distribution pump station Provide conceptual engineering of transmission main alternatives and comparison evaluation of most feasible route Develop conceptual cost estimate for pump station and transmission main Conceptual Engineering Proposed Tasks (Cont.)
11
Task 6 – Operation and Maintenance Costs to Maintain Ruddock Well System vs. Cost to Decommission Determine operation and maintenance costs over 20 year term to keep Ruddock well system in operation Determine cost to decommission Ruddock well system Conceptual Engineering Proposed Tasks (Cont.)
12
Conceptual Engineering Design Memorandum and Recommendations Summary Present total costs of all elements in a summarized format Provide recommendations on moving forward with design and construction Provide Schedule to completion Operation and maintenance comparison of elements Reliability comparison of elements Potential funding methods for recommended alternative LaPlace Water Source Conceptual Engineering Results
