Hydrologists By Alex Morrison

Introduction I have chosen to do my presentation on a hydrologist because it not a well-know job and it is interesting because they use maths to fix water pollution and work with biologists to monitor marine wild life. People who want to pursue a career in Hydrology need to be good at maths, statistics and computing. Hydrologists work very closely with engineers, scientists and public officials to study and manage the water supply, they also work with marine biologists to monitor marine wild life and most hydrologists will specialize in a specific water source or a certain aspect of the water cycle, such as the evaporation of water from lakes and streams

Introduction To Hydrology Water is one of the most important natural resources in the world and without it, we could not survive. Everyone in the world relies heavily on having a plentiful supply of water that is cheap and clean. A Hydrologist studies the earths water system by performing extensive field and laboratory research to fix the environments water pollution problems. A hydrologist will use their expertise to solve problems in the areas of water qualities and availability.

Hydrologist Workplace Hydrologists work in the field and in offices and laboratories. In the field they may have to wade into lakes and streams to get water samples or inspect monitoring equipment. When Hydrologists are in the office, they will spend a lot of their time using computers to look at the data they have analyzed and collected. This is a picture of a hydrologist comparing samples of water:

Becoming A Hydrologist To become a Hydrologist, you need to know if a career as a hydrologist is right for you, if you want to work in a well-paying and dynamic career in which you can help natural water resources, becoming a hydrologist will be a great career choice for you. Being a Hydrologist means you have to have a science degree in Geology, Hydrology, Chemistry and Mathematics and Physics is a great way to build an educational foundation for your prospective career as a Hydrologist. Depending on where your career ambitions and interests lie, you will likely need a graduate degree in Geology, Hydrology and Chemistry or environmental science to become a senior level Hydrologist. Employers also usually also get a degree in environmental engineering provided the candidate is experienced in one of the fields above. Hydrologists may also continue and education all the way through their career as hydrologists because the water resources in the environment is being polluted almost all of the time and they must keep analyzing the water to know if it pollutant or not or if the marine life in the water is healthy and not in danger of pollution.
