18 Revising for Word Choice We will be revising our short stories from last week. Please read your final copy to yourself. Then, find a place to: Use sensory language (revise 4 words minimum) Alliteration (use alliteration twice) If you’re finished early, please edit the following on your slate: 1.Who’s homework is this. 2.You and me should have went to the movies.

Think about the words you will use. If you want to remember a specific vivid word or phrase, make note of it. 4. Select a speaking style that matches your speech.

20 Speaking and Listening: Speaking Strategies Make eye contact with more than one person in the audience. Speak in your natural voice, as if you were just talking about your viewpoints and feelings. Vary your speed and the volume of your voice when appropriate.

21 Listening and Speaking: Listening Strategies Try to understand the viewpoints and feelings that the speaker is expressing. Ask yourself if the speaker’s nonverbal message matches what he or she is saying. Evaluate the speaker’s word choice and tone.
