3. Gospel Journal #5 GJ 5 – Luke 1: 57-80 Birth of John the Baptist Zechariah still cannot speak. This ends when the Angel’s command is fulfilled that the child be named John, a new name, one not from the family. This means something new is happening. This is in essence the whole Christian message. “What then will this child be?” the people ask. Zechariah has a canticle like Mary, also only found here in Luke. Q/D (5x12) Your parents and family probably asked the same question when you were born: “What then will this child be?” Are they proud of you today? Not so much? Do you think you have lived up to family expectations? Is it fair that parents have expectations for their children? Will you have expectations for your children?

12. Justice As A Virtue - Commutative Justice The justice of exchange: justice between individuals Justice between an individual and a group Justice between two groups. Calls for fairness in agreements and exchanges between individuals or private social groups. Equality based on what is given and what is received.

13. - Distributive Justice Justice that guarantees the common welfare. Involves sharing: see to the just distribution of the goods of creation so that human needs are met.
