2 A CADEMIC C OACHING Open to all PSU students not in FYE (University Success does this) Graduate student interns as coaches Flexible number of appointments/content of sessions Certify through College Reading & Learning Association Values this supports: Thinking critically, becoming an active learner, respectful discourse from diverse perspectives, self empowerment, healthy scholarship, ethos of care Campus Learning Outcomes addressed: Creative and critical thinking, communication, diversity, ethics and social responsibility, engagement One measurable learning outcome: Communication – Coaches will incorporate at least 3 communication skills in their sessions with students. Supervisor’s observations and self- reflections will verify this. 2

3 C OLLEGE SUCCESS F ACILITATION More sections of College Success taught by partners across PSU Training and systematic observation, feedback for all instructors Values this supports: Thinking critically, becoming an active learner, respectful discourse from diverse perspectives, self empowerment, healthy scholarship, ethos of care Campus Learning Outcomes addressed: Creative and critical thinking, communication, diversity, ethics and social responsibility, engagement One measurable learning outcome: Creative and critical thinking – Students will be able to critically analyze case studies based on the tenets of On Course and effectively communicate their reasoning. This will be evaluated using public speaking rubrics. 3

4 C HIRON STUDIES F RAMEWORK Revise constitution Create learning outcomes for student instructors More stable and flexible funding model Values this supports: Thinking critically, becoming an active learner, respectful discourse from diverse perspectives Campus Learning Outcomes addressed: Creative and critical thinking, communication, diversity, ethics and social responsibility, engagement One measurable learning outcome: Engagement – Chiron instructors will see themselves as leaders at PSU. This will be accomplished through systematic training and opportunities for professional development. 4

5 S OCIAL M EDIA I MPLEMENTATION Platform on which students positively interact Not simply to disseminate information Values this supports: Becoming an active learner, respectful discourse from diverse perspectives, healthy scholarship, ethos of care Campus Learning Outcomes addressed: Creative and critical thinking, communication, ethics and social responsibility, engagement One measurable learning outcome: Communication – Students will communicate appropriately and regularly with each other about course content and study strategies. This will be measured by the number of discussions occurring online as well as responses to moderation if necessary. 5
