3. Causes of The Korean War
Following WWII, North Korea was occupied by the Soviet Union, South Korea was occupied by the US.
Elections to bring the two countries together failed, North Korea invaded South Korea.
The South Koreans were pushed back to the very tip of their country.

4. The U.S.A Becomes Involved.
1950- The USA sent troops as part of United Nations Peace Keeping Force.
Pushed North Korean Forces into China.
China entered the war, and there was a stalemate.

5. How the War Ended
North and South Korea agreed to a cease-fire (not a treaty)
Divided the country at the 38th parallel and established a demilitarized zone.
34,000 American died, 100,000 injured
1,000,000+ Koreans died
US still has 28,000 troops in South Korea
