2 10/4/2015p. 2 Fun facts about Uganda  The Republic of Uganda, a country in East Africa, bordered in the East by Kenya, North by South Sudan, by the Democratic Republic of Congo in the West, Rwanda in the Southwest and Tanzania in the South. It is in the heart of the Great lakes region, and is surrounded by three of them, Lake Edward, Lake Albert, and Lake Victoria. While much of its border is lakeshore, Uganda is Land locked with no access to the sea.  Uganda is ethnologically diverse, with at least forty languages in usage. Official languages are English and Swahili.  Today Uganda is still mainly an agricultural country and its main export is coffee. Area: total: 241 038 km², land:197 100 km², water: 43 938 km². Its abundant wildlife includes endangered gorillas and chimpanzees as well as rare birds. Remote Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a famous mountain gorilla sanctuary, while Murchison Falls National Park in the northwest is known for its 43m-tall waterfall and wildlife such as hippos.  River Nile is the world’s longest river. It originates from Jinja in Uganda through South Sudan, Sudan and Egypt to Mediterranean Sea.  The capital city of Uganda is Kampala. . The population of Uganda is about 40.39 million.
