1 Implementation of CBL in fourth class of stomatology faculty in(K.M.U) prepared by : Dr.Nejabi (MD) lecturer of stomatology faculty prosthodentic department.

2 Background Time duration of stomatology faculty 6 years. One year P.C.B Two years Para clinic (basic science) Two years clinic One year house job. Total stomatology faculty students are 354.

3 Stomatology has four departments Restorative department. Maxillofacial surgery department. Prosthodentic department. Pediatric of stomatology department. The total number of Stomatology Lecturers are 15.

5 Aims To facilitate self-directed learning. To integrate different aspects of stomatology. To learn clinical knowledge more deeply.

6 objectives Standardization of teaching method. Structuring of knowledge for using in clinical context. Motivation of students to self-directed learning through CBL.

7 Flow of Information Text books use the direction of information Disease symptoms & finding CBL uses natural direction of information. Symptoms & finding disease

8 Methods Time: September 2007 Second semester 4 th class 4 th class of Stomatology faculty students are 54 divided in small group (each group 5 students) Schedule In 10 days practical work (two days CBL) Every Saturday and Wednesday. From 9:00 am to 11:00 am.

9 Facilities Stomatology hospital. One class room. Prosthodontic department.

11 Topics Taking history and physical examination. The cause of tooth extraction. (real patients) Replacement of partially edentulous jaw. Procedure of making crowns. (paper shed )

12 Resource Stomatology teachers. Stomatology Instrument. Stomatology rooms Real patients. JICA Office. Support of KMU.

13 Weakness Insufficient experience (students & teachers) Lack of update books Lack of computer and multimedia
