e-TrustEx is a tool that facilitates the secure exchange of electronic documents between Public Authorities at European, national and local level via standardised interfaces.

11. What is CIPA e-Delivery?
A generic and standard way for cross-border transmission of electronic documents.
Builds a network where electronic documents transit in a secure and reliable way.
Access to this network through gateways, which communicate with each other using a standard protocol.

12. CIPA e-Delivery components:
Access Points (APs): Gateways which ensure a standard and solid transport mechanism to exchange different types of documents across different communities or countries
Service Metadata Publishers (SMPs): Contain the exact location and the capabilities of the participants
Service Metadata Locator (SML):
add/update/delete the IDs of the participants
DNS-based mechanism to discover the SMP where the specific participant data is described.
