6 STEPS TAKEN  Crisis Management group comprising principal secretaries of Agriculture & Line Department under Chairmanship of Chief Secretary monitors on regular basis.  Weekly Video conferencing by Chief Secretary with all District Magistrate.  Weekly District task force meeting under the Chairmanship of District Magistrate.  Regular monitoring of Canal irrigation, Minor irrigation & Tube well irrigation at top level.  Control room to monitor electricity supply in rural areas.

7 INITIATIVE  Advisory to farmers in daily news papers regularly.  SAU’s & KVK’s scientist with District officials visited affected villages regularly for technical support & advisory.  Distribution of Diesel Subsidy for life saving irrigation.  Distribution of Seed of Contingent Crops  Eight hour regular electricity supply in rural areas for irrigation.  Ensured availability of water up to tail end of the canal for effective irrigation.

8 DIESEL SUBSIDY Rs. 250/ per acre per irrigation for two irrigations for raising paddy seedlings. Rs. 250/ per acre per irrigation for four irrigations of transplanted paddy & Maize. Rs. 250/ per acre per irrigation for one irrigation for Contingent crops.

10 AWARENESS Promotion of stress tolerant variety of paddy. Adoption of Intercropping In situ moisture conservation Technique

11 NEED Crop diversification to minimize the loss Promotion of INM & IPM Promotion of Micro irrigation water management technique Effective utilization of canal irrigation systems. Effective implementation of schemes, related to rain water harvest & run off management. Monitoring of ground water table

12  Alternative Cropping pattern in place of Rice- Wheat.  Suitable varieties of alternative crops  Agro climatic zone wise recommendation of crops &varieties.  Awareness of farmers about cost benefit of alternative crops.  seed production of suitable alternative crop & recommended short duration variety.  Plan of action for seed production of contingent crops.  Multiplication & supply of Breeder seed of contingent crop. 13 STEP S TO BE TAKEN Dedicated feeder of electricity supply for agriculture Seed bank for short duration paddy & contingent crops.

14 Grant in aid for Diesel subsidy. Automatic weather station at Block level. Advance weather warning system. Modern parameter for assessing stress condition. Strategies for effective crop insurance ISSUES
