4 About Knight & Carver Wind Group Brief history – Formed a few years ago as out-growth of luxury yacht-repair company Awards- Department of Energy top 10 accomplishments for energy innovation What we do – build new blades in National City and South Dakota – plan to open facility in Texas in early 2010 – also repair, service, inspect Growth pattern -- Has grown from 60 employees at end of 2008 to 175 employees – all green jobs Near future – growth will continue, expect to be $30 million company by end of 2010. About Wind Energy Industry US Leads the world -- The US leads the world in installed wind capacity and new turbine installations. In 2008, more than 8,500 megawatts of new wind power capacity brought US capacity to 23,000 megawatts – more than longtime world leader Germany. President Obama’s Goal -- President Obama has set a goal of doubling wind energy production in 3 years. The Dept of Energy says wind energy has the potential to generate 10 percent of US electricity needs by 2012 – and 25 percent by 2030. Federal commitment – Investment of $15 billion each year for 10 years to develop clean energy including wind power, solar power, geothermal energy and clean coal technology Job Creation – could create 3 million to 5 million new jobs Current U.S. Power supplied by Wind energy – Only 1.25 percent of the U.S. electricity output – a long way from 2030 goal.
