2 Welcome to EBSCO’s Consumer Health Complete (CHC) tutorial. The Consumer Health Complete interface and content offer the latest medical research with an easy-to-use, graphically appealing interface, which highlights content sources such as Evidence-Based Reports, Fact Sheets & Pamphlets, and Encyclopedias & Reference Books.

3 KEYWORD SEARCHING: Beginning on the Basic Search screen, enter term(s) in the Find field and then click Search, for results from all of the Source Types located in the area just below the Find field.

4 RESULT LIST: The Result List includes a tab for each source type, which when clicked, reveals only results from that source.

5 You can print, e-mail, or save a single result by clicking on the corresponding link at the top of an open result, or you can manage multiple results by adding them to your folder, then selecting the appropriate function link from inside the folder.

6 SOURCE-TYPE SEARCHING: Click on a single source type from the Basic Search screen.

7 Enter term(s) in the Find field and then click Search to view a Result List of articles from only that source.

8 QUICK FIND provides access to information about diseases, conditions, injuries and procedures. Simply click on a letter to view a result list of links to pertinent reports.

9 To view a detailed report from the list, click on its name link. RELATED INFORMATION: Note that Related Information links are presented in a box to the right of the open report.

10 HEALTH HIGHLIGHT: Check out the regularly updated Health Highlight feature for the latest popular medical information and tips.

11 BROWSE POPULAR SOURCES: You can Browse Popular Sources by clicking on any of the book icons shown.

12 When you have selected a source, you may enter a term in the Browse for field on which to search.

13 SEARCH BY TOPIC: You can Search by Topic by clicking on any of the links in this section.

14 Select one or several subtopics from the resulting list, enter term(s) in the Find field, and then click on the Search button.

15 MEDICAL DICTIONARY: Click on the Medical Dictionary link to search Merriam-Webster’s Medical Desk Dictionary by selecting a letter, and then browse through the resulting list of links to find the information you need.

16 You can extend your search to include articles in the database by clicking on the Search for your word in Consumer Health Complete link at the bottom of the dictionary’s definition of your term.

17 ADVANCED SEARCHING: From the Advanced Search screen, you can limit your search to certain document types, or apply search limiters to focus your results.

18 From the Advanced Search screen you can also save your Search History, set up Search Alerts, or browse the list of Publications represented in the database, using the links shown along the top toolbar.

19 To save search results for a future session, click on the Sign in link and log in to your personalized folder account (available free of charge), or create on by clicking on the I’m a new user link and following the prompts.

20 Click on the Help link for access to the complete online Help system.
