2 History Formed in 1996, the Mississippi Chronic Illness Coalition first concentrated its efforts on Diabetes Formed in 1996, the Mississippi Chronic Illness Coalition first concentrated its efforts on Diabetes The Coalition expanded in 1999 to include other chronic diseases affecting Mississippians including Cardiovascular Disease, Arthritis, Cancer, Obesity etc… The Coalition expanded in 1999 to include other chronic diseases affecting Mississippians including Cardiovascular Disease, Arthritis, Cancer, Obesity etc…

5 Goals I. Identify, recruit and coordinate statewide partners and resources that will aid in accomplishing MCIC’s mission II. Identify and share resources to empower the general public to take ownership of their health through behavior change
