8 Participation rules Project Participants are all the legal entities that will contribute to the project Minimum number 3 from EU Member States or Associated States (with 2 from Member States or Accession Countries for all instruments) 1 possible for specific support actions (SSA)

10 GEANT: Achievements -Pan-European coverage -Interconnecting 32 NRENs -Linking more than 3000 Universities, i.e. virtually all the researchers in Europe in all disciplines -9 international circuits operating at 10Gbps while 11 other run at 2,5Gbps -Looking for intercontinental connectivity Total 200 MEuro over 4 years (80 MEuro from EU)

12 EU-CHINA Information Society dialogue: An active co-operation EU-CHINA Information Society dialogue: An active co-operation The EURO-CHINA Information Society Forum in April 2002 (14000 Chinese visitors) The Beyond 3G workshop in Beijing The seminar on Telecom Regulatory aspects An annual EU-CHINA Information Society Dialogue held in Brussels last week The three day series of presentations arranged in Brussels for the State Council Informatisation Office (SCITO) The selection of IST projects involving Chinese organisations The launch of the EU-China Working Group on Digital Olympics
