2 Project Overview Students have designed and are starting to create book marks, key chains, and hair barrettes to sell at the Farmer’s Market. They are creating patterns and using their measuring, money and addition skills to connect to their economic knowledge from our readings in order to prepare for September 29 th !

3 Noise Level 1 1. Monday 1.Choose a book from the bucket about business. 2.Be sure to check for one that is in your reading level. 3.Begin reading the book. You may read with a partner. 4.Complete the daily reading log with a short summary. 2.Tuesday 1.Continue reading your book of choice. 2.Complete the daily reading log with a short summary. 3.Wednesday 1.Continue reading your book choice. 2.Complete the daily reading log with a short summary. 4.Thursday 1.Continue reading your book choice. 2.Complete the daily reading log with a short summary. 5.Friday 1.Continue reading your book choice or finish your book and take an AR quiz. 2.Complete and turn in the daily reading log to the turn in file for Reading.. 5. Money, Money! Materials Needed Book on reading level related to businesses Daily Reading Log Home Reading Project Connection Farmer’s Market Money Economics Standards: EL.2.2.5 Restate facts and details to summarize the main idea in the text to clarify and organize ideas.

4 Writing “Descriptive Words” Noise Level 1 1.Gather all materials. 2.Think about the item(s) that we are producing for the Farmer’s Market. 3.Use the graphic organizer to write as many words to describe the item as you can. 4.Use your graphic organizer to write a paragraph describing the item. Think about what you would say in a catalog that would help sell the product. Use as many descriptive words as possible. Be creative. 5.Edit your writing. 6.Trade with a partner and let them read your paragraph. 7.When you are ready, get your computer and type your final writing. Standards 2.L.1.e Use adjectives and adverbs and choose between them. 2.L.6 Use words and phrases acquired through reading and being read to (including adjectives and adverbs). 5 Self-Selected Reading / Accelerated Reader Noise Level 0 1.Choose a library book or a book of choice that you have not read. 2.Be sure you picked a book that you can read alone. 3.Silently read. 4.After you finish your book, write the name of the book in your Data Binder. 5.Be sure to fill in the information about your book in your binder. 6.If you can answer all the questions in your Data Binder, get your laptop and log on to AR to take your test. 7.Record your AR score in your Data Binder.. 6 Working with Words Noise Level 1 Monday: Start the spelling packet. Tuesday: Finish the spelling packet and turn in to the turn in file. Wednesday: Spelling City/Vocabulary Game Thursday: Gather materials and work on creating Farmer’s Market products. Friday: Test! Be sure to apply your adding, measuring, and money skills to our products! Remember, the 3 rd graders will inspect each product before marking it for sale at the Farmer’s Market, so do your best work!
