2 2 This storm has is still far out in the Atlantic, but it has already achieved Category 4 strength. Hurricane Ike has a sustained wind speed of 145 miles per hour. There is still a lot of warm deep water in Hurricane Ike's projected path before it approaches the United States. Hurricane paths can be tricky to predict 5-7 days in advance, but right now it looks as it Hurricane Ike's projected path will take it right over the Bahamas. Unlike Haiti or Cuba, the islands of the Bahamas are too small to cause considerable weakening of Hurricane Ike as it continues on its track toward the east coast. 09/0318 GMT21.151.985979 Category 1 Hurricane 09/0400 GMT21.853.5120956 Category 3 Hurricane 09/0406 GMT22.455.0145935 Category 4 Hurricane 09/0412 GMT23.056.4140937 Category 4 Hurricane 09/0418 GMT23.457.7135940 Category 4 Hurricane 09/0500 GMT23.659.0135944 Category 4 Hurricane 09/0506 GMT23.660.4135949 Category 4 Hurricane 09/0512 GMT23.561.9120954 Category 3 Hurricane 09/0518 GMT23.263.4115959 Category 3 Hurricane 09/0600 GMT22.864.9115962 Category 3 Hurricane A Picture =1,000 Words A Picture = 100,000 Data Cells
