1 TIGGELMAN 30 YEARS! SALSALESSONS FOR STUDENTS Salsa dancing is a fun experience for everyone. Recently, dancing school Tiggelman, situated on the Slingerweg in Breda, celebrated their 30 year anniversary with free dancing lessons for students. Salsa is a popular form of social dance that originated in New York with influences from Latin America, particularly Cuba and Puerto Rico. The movements of salsa come from the Cuban Son, Cha cha cha, Mambo and other dance forms, and the dance, along with the salsa music, originated in the mid-1970s in New York. As a student you come into the dancing school with an inactive mind-set, not very excited about learning the dance. You meet a man who is a regular teacher at the school. He tells you what you are going to learn, and he starts off with some individual exercises. You learn how to step in salsa-style, and you learn the basics of the dance in the beginning. After this, you get a partner assigned to you, and you start adjusting your style to fit your role in the dance. The last part of the lesson was a pair shift. You had to shift partners every time the teacher said, and so you learned the difference between other people, and you learned how to adjust to different ways of dancing the salsa. The overall experience was very surprising. At first, you aren’t very excited, because salsa dancing sounds like something very old-fashioned. But after a while, you really start learning the dance, and you start trying to get better every time. During the last exercise, I really tried to learn the movements as best as I could, and that was really surprising for me, because I didn’t expect that at first. I would recommend people who enjoy dancing to go there. You can really learn a lot of basic things about dancing in just an hour, and if you want to get more advanced, you can obviously also do that. If you want to have some nice moves to show at a party, if you want to learn more about other people’s culture, or even if you are looking for a fun physical exercise that is good for your health, I would really recommend trying out a lesson for yourself and learning the basics of the salsa dance! DAILY NEWS ABOUT DANCE AND CULTURE!20/3/2015 THE World's Tallest Burger: A Finland Cafe Says This Hamburger Is a Record Setter By LOUISE DEWAST and JANI VAITTINEN A café in Finland claims it broke the record this week for the world’s tallest burger. For the price of $2,200, customers were invited to take a bite from a 16-foot-tall hamburger tower. The owner of Mehiläis Pesä restaurant, in the small southern town of Lapinjärvi, Finland, told ABC News he decided to build the 220- pound monster on Monday ‘’just for fun.’’ ‘’It’s also a way for us to advertise local food,’’ said Jarmo Lehtomäki. Ingredients used to build the pyramid were all locally sourced, with lettuce and bread produced less than a mile away, Lehtomäki said. Lehtomäki hired a new chef, and building the giant burger was his first task. It took him one hour and 40 minutes. While the restaurant was open for customers during the construction, only a few people dared to taste the burger (though nobody actually was charged $2,200). Once it was over, most of the burgers were cold and dry, said the caf?? owner, making them inedible.e restaurant gave the food away to a local dog shelter owner with 23 dogs.
